Dear GSC representatives and dorm officers,

In an effort to increase graduate student engagement in the community, the
GSC is forming a new subcommittee (under the Housing and Community Affairs
standing committee) to focus on community service.  In collaboration with
the GSC Academic, Research, and Careers Committee and the MIT Public Service
Center, this subcommittee will run a series of service events, beginning
this summer and continuing throughout the academic year.

Our team is currently brainstorming ways to best utilize the many unique
talents that MIT graduate students have to offer.  We have several long-term
projects in mind, and would like your input on those ideas.  We will be
holding a focus group on Wednesday, May 20th at 7 pm in the GSC office
(50-220) to pitch our ideas to you and collect feedback.  Dinner will be
provided.

Ideally, at this focus group we would like to have at least 2-3
representatives from each dorm and any interested and enthusiastic
department representatives.  If you would like to attend this focus group,
please RSVP to gsc-hca at mit.edu by Monday, May 18th.  Because seating is
limited, we might not be able to accommodate everyone who responds, but we
will let you know by the 19th if you have a spot.
