Hi everyone,

Happy third night of Hanukkah! We hope you are having a great semester and
that the Thanksgiving break left you feeling energized for this last
stretch before the winter holidays! Please enjoy our latest GSC DEI
Newsletter!

General GSC DEI

1. Pop-up Food Connection Initiative

We are excited for all the support we have received for our initiative to
address food insecurity among graduate students in our community with the
GSC DEI Pop-up Food Connection and would like to thank everybody who gave
us input and volunteered to help with this initiative. If you are
experiencing food insecurity, please fill out this anonymous survey
<https://forms.gle/Z9HUGHGdYpJohXAg6> so we can appropriately assess the
most accessible locations and times for you to receive food distributions.

If you would still like to get involved and haven’t had a chance to
indicate that yet, please let us know by emailing us at
gsc-diversity-officers at mit.edu and we will follow up. The areas we can use
help in include donating nonperishables, staffing pickup tables, restocking
pickup tables, and packaging food to be distributed.

2. Designing Your Life: Make It Happen 2022 at MIT

Are you interested in learning how to better navigate interpersonal
interactions in your everyday life? Check out this 6-session group coaching
series! More information attached.

Department and Classroom Inclusion

Are you looking to get more involved with GSC-DEI and help get your
department connected to our DEI community? We are looking for more conduits
from departments across MIT schools to help us learn about the needs of
individual departments and inform our plans moving forward. If you are
interested in serving as a GSC-DEI conduit for your department or know
someone who might be, contact us as gsc-diversity-officers at mit.edu.

Other Open Positions

We have open positions for a Treasurer and a Constituency Representative
(C-Rep) for first generation/low income students. Please contact
gsc-diversity-officers at mit.edu if interested.

Student Life

Do you have an idea for an event centered around community-building among
students and DEI advocacy? Whether it’s a supportive meet-and-greet, an
informational panel, or anything creative in between, we would love to
provide support! Please get in touch with us at
gsc-diversity-officers at mit.edu to discuss your initiative and potential
funding opportunities.
