abuse and exploitation due to underrepresentation.
- This year, as part of the IDEAS Competition and MIT Global Challenge, Monster Worldwide
is putting $20,000 towards supporting student-led innovation in information technologies
that help migrant workers access the resources they need.
- Join us this week to learn more about the Monster Challenge, to hear from a Harvard Sociology
Professor and a Legatum Fellow about daily life for a migrant worker and the challenges they
face, and to meet other students and explore ideas together.

- Florida farmworkers are among this country's most exploited workers, oftentimes laboring
under brutal conditions for wages that have not increased significantly since 1978. For over
15 years, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) -- a farmworker organization based in
Immokalee, FL -- has been organizing to improve workers' wages and working conditions,
and leads the national Campaign for Fair Food which calls on major tomato buyers to take
responsibility for the abuses faced by workers in its supply chain. To date, the CIW has
reached agreements with nine leading food retailers -- including McDonald's, Subway and
Whole Foods -- and five Florida growers have committed to work together with the CIW to
   implement these fair food agreements.
