*School of Engineering Dean Search*
The members of the Search Committee for the next Dean of the School of
Engineering are in the information gathering stages of our search and
seek the input of the student body. We hope that you can assemble a
team of students to gather information for us and then provide us a
report, both oral and written, of your findings. We are particularly
interested in students' assessment of the state of the School, its
strengths and weaknesses; the vision of strategic directions and
priorities for the School; and thoughts regarding necessary and
important attributes of our next School of Engineering Dean at MIT. We
hope to complete the information gathering stage by the end of
December, so our time frame is very tight.
Please e-mail gsc-president at mit.edu with ideas and feedback.

*IDEAS Competition Tuberculosis Challenge*
The International Development Initiative at MIT challenges members of
the MIT community to help eradicate TB by increasing adherence to
Tuberculosis Drugs in Rural Developing Country Contexts. Thanks to the
generous support of MIT alum Mr. Muhammed Abdul Latif Jameel, financial
support for MIT student teams tackling the challenge is available
through the MIT IDEAS Competition, the Public Service Fellowships
Program, and the D-Lab class. The MIT IDEAS Competition is open to
everyone, but at least one third of each team must be full-time MIT
students.
The IDEAS Competition is hosting a dinner for people interested in
taking part in the challenge and forming IDEAS teams:
Thursday, December 7, 2006
7:00pm - 9:00pm
MIT Room 4-265
We will be showing the film “The Name of the Disease”, about TB in
developing countries. After the film and dinner, table groups will
discuss the issues, brainstorm solutions, and hopefully start to form
teams to tackle the challenge.
Please RSVP to hynd at mit.edu by Wednesday, December 6. Space is limited,
so participation will be on a first come first served basis.
