*GSC-ARC Airport Shuttle Program 2006-07 (Aug. 19th-27th)*

Every year, the Graduate Student Council offers an airport shuttle,
providing rides for incoming students from the airport to MIT. In order
to make this program work, we need graduate students to volunteer to
spend a short amount of time at the airport to greet incoming students
and to help direct them to the shuttles.

This year GSC Airport Shuttle Program needs many volunteers to help pick
up the new incoming students at Logan Airport from Aug 19 to 27. Each
volunteer will probably work for one time slot ( 2-3 hours per time
slot). During the time, we will provide you with water, snacks, T-shirt
and transportation to airport everyday. This is your chance to help the
new incoming students and also to make new friends!

If you want to join us, please sign-up at
http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/firstyear/airport/volunteer.shtml

*GSC Travel Grant Fund - Accepting Applications*

Starting in Fall 2006, Graduate Student Council (GSC) will be offering a
limited number of Travel Grants to support the conference expenses of
graduate students in all Schools throughout the Institute. This fund
will be allocated for conference travel expenses that are not currently
funded by the student's Advisor or other MIT-related funding. It is a
source of travel grant "gap" funding for students that have no other
means to attend a conference to either present a paper or participate as
a discussant on a panel.

We are now inviting applications for the Fall semester, covering
conferences between October 1, 2006 and February 28, 2007. One grant
will be awarded per graduate student, per School, per semester with a
ceiling of $1,000.
