*SECRETARY ELECTION*

The GSC Secretary for 2006-07 will be elected at the May GCM on 3 May.
According to the GSC By-laws, section 18, subsection 11, paragraph 2:

"... No candidate for Secretary having been nominated by the occurrence of
the May GCM, the position of GSC Secretary shall hereto be awarded to a
shaven, greased piglet who shall have been priorly injected with a dose of
not less than fifty milligrams of crystal methamphetamine, said youthful
swine to be supplied by Pete's Premium Pig Parts of Boston Massachusetts
and said dose of stimulant to be procured by any means at the Council's
disposal. Whosoever catcheth this piglet shall thenceforth not only claim
the position of GSC Secretary by divine right, but shall be awarded the
title of 'Grand Master Of Stout-Bodied Short-Legged Omnivorous Mammals With
A Thick Bristly Skin And A Long Mobile Snout' in addition and besides."

Surely no red blooded member of the graduate community could condone
allowing their GSC to suffer a spectacle of this level of indignity.
Send your nominations to gsc-vice-president at mit.edu.

*GRAD RAT PRICE INCREASE*

GradRat price will increase July 15th

Are you still thinking about purchasing the GradRat, MIT's official
custom-designed and popular graduate ring? Then now is the time to buy
your GradRat!

The price of gold has gone up substantially, and ring prices will most
likely increase by probably as much as 20% after July 15th.

The Graduate Student Council has worked closely with ring manufacturer
Balfour to keep GradRat prices as reasonable as possible, but the GSC's
contract with Balfour allows for price adjustment every year depending on
the gold price.

So, you may want to stop procrastinating and place your order now!

There are 3 ways to order:

1. Through the GSC website:

http://web.mit.edu/gsc/www/programs/ring/

2. By setting up a personal appointment at the GSC office:

e-mail: gsc-admin at mit.edu

3. During Balfour Sales Days:

June 8th and 9th
11 am -- 3 pm
1st floor, Stratton Student Center (W20)
