Dear Graduate Students,
Today marks the start of an important celebration for the MIT community
- the inauguration of our President, Dr. Susan Hockfield. The
inauguration coincides also with the end to President Hockfield's
"student introduction to the Institute", as the Student Advisory Board
to President Hockfield released its final report on Friday
(web.mit.edu/committees/sab). All students are encouraged both to
participate in as many of the Inaugural events as possible (which begin
tonight, see below), to celebrate this rare and significant occasion,
and to read through the Advisory Board's report (available online), to
understand the perspective presented to the President by the student body.
The inauguration ceremony itself will be on Friday at 2pm, but there are
also a number of events planned for this entire week through Saturday to
celebrate the occasion. The events begin tonight at 7pm with the
opening of the "White Noise, White Light" art exhibit in Kresge Oval.
Please visit the inauguration website to find a full schedule of events
(http://web.mit.edu/inauguration/).
Sincerely,
Barun Singh
President, MIT Graduate Student Council 2004-05
