*SIGN-UP for DISCUSSIONS WITH FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS ON ADVISOR-ADVISEE
RELATIONSHIPS*
*Student participation needed*
For 2004-2005, one of the top priorities of the Graduate Student Council is to
understand and improve advisor-advisee relationships at MIT. Following
meticulous planning since the beginning of summer 2004, the GSC is organizing
a series of focus groups on advisor-advisee relationships in mid-November.
The objective of these discussions is to come up with well-informed and
practical recommendations to improve Advisor/Advisee relationships at MIT. A
detailed description of these focus groups are available at
http://gsc.mit.edu/advising. So far, nearly 25 faculty and administrators from
various departments have confirmed their participation. This graduate student
initiative has received enthusiastic support from senior MIT administrators,
senior faculty members, some of whom are Perkins award winners for exemplary
graduate advising.
There will be positions for upto sixty graduate student participants. We
invite
all interested students to participate in a set of two discussions. Free
lunch
will be provided to all participants.
