[Glass-mit] MIT Online Great Glass Pumpkin Patch reminder

Hello all,
A reminder that the *2020 Online MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch *is this
Saturday-Monday. The site is live NOW, but the pumpkins will not appear for
sale until Saturday at noon. So if you go to the sale before then, please
don't be confused if you don't see any pumpkins yet - they will ALL appear
on Saturday at noon and be available until Monday at 8:00PM.

*The Glass Lab is completely self-funding. *We rely on the revenue
generated each year by the MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch for nearly 100% of
the program’s annual operating budget. Teams of instructors and students
work all year long, starting soon after the fall sale, on the “new crop”
for next year, and throughout the school year and summer we make the nearly
2000 pumpkins normally brought to the sale. Proceeds from the sale allow us
to continue operations for another year.



*This year was different.*In mid-March the Institute sent students home and
closed all labs at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. At that point, the
Glass Lab had only been able to make about 25%  (about 450)  of our usual
complement of pumpkins. This means that, even if the sale is very
successful, we will still fall short of our annual goal by 75%.



*This year we need your help.*

Without the funds necessary to keep the program operational, we may have to
close the doors on this precious resource.
