Hi everybody,
OK, after this weekend I will be out of summer-is-ending denial mode and
ready to put some serious time into scheduling specific times and jobs for
the MIT Pumpkin Patch. So it will be useful for me to know which days and
times people will be able to work the sale. Here is a reminder of the
different times we need help and the things we need help with. For new
people, more information will be forthcoming.
And a reminder for everyone: if you want to be able to have volunteer
shopping privileges, you need to work the sale for *at least five hours
unless specifically dismissed by an organizer. *No swooping in, shopping,
working for a half hour and taking off. That just makes life harder for
everyone else and is unfair. Sorry to be a bummer, but this has been a
problem at times.
Sale days:
*Friday (9/25) 8AM-5PM: *Setting up pumpkins under the tent, pricing,
getting ready for the opening.
*Friday 5PM-8PM: *The preview opening under the tent (we really need people
to watch the pumpkins at this time!)
*Friday 8PM-1AM overnight shift #1: *babysit the pumpkins under the tent
*Friday 1AM-6AM overnight shift #2: *babysit, graveyard shift
*Saturday (9/26) 6AM-10AM: *Set up the sale on the oval grass and get ready
for the sale. This takes tons of volunteers!
*Saturday 10AM-3PM: THE SALE *- Max volunteers for at least 3 hours while
the sale is busiest.
*Saturday 3PM-5PM: *Cleanup - recycle newspaper, pack up supplies, gather
furniture, etc.
*Sunday (only if it rains a LOT on Saturday): *same schedule as Saturday
So -
If you know at this point what part(s) of the sale you can work, please let
me know now, and I will put you into the schedule. Otherwise, I will
schedule people as I hear from you.
Thanks people. See you in a little over a month.
