Dear Friends and Associates of the MIT Glass Lab,
I'm writing, early in this new year, to update the message I sent out near
the end of last year regarding a very generous $250,000 challenge pledge
that had been offered to the Glass Lab.
It is with great satisfaction and relief that I can say that on December
31, the last day of 2013, *we were able to match the challenge* and push
our fund raising effort to within 90% of our goal.
The match was possible because of numerous year-end gifts all across the
spectrum: from small gifts by current students and volunteers, to large
donations by some of our most loyal supporters, as well as some new ones.
As I sit down this snowy morning to write some thank-you notes, it is so
gratifying to see how diverse the list is of those who support this unique
program. Thanks to all of you who have helped us on our journey so far.
We're not quite done, but it's looking like we will start the project on
time, this coming April, with new and enlarged spaces for the Glass Lab as
well as the forge and foundry programs by fall of this year. I will keep
you posted as the project unfolds.
Thanks to all.
Yours in *Mens et Manus,*
Peter
