August greetings, fellow people-of-the-pumpkin,
Insane as it may seem, the !TENTH ANNUAL! MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch is
approaching our galaxy at warp speed, and astrophysicists are unanimous in
their conclusion that it will collide with our planet on Saturday, September
25, epicenter being Kresge Oval on the MIT campus. We hope you will be there
to revel in the apocalyptic glory of this massive seismic event, at which
unheard of amounts of pumpkinetic energy will be released and several new
particles discovered. Chris Moore will be there to explain it all. We hope
you too will be there to help prepare for the rapture, to help with the
event, to pick up the pieces during the aftermath, or all of the above.
As usual, the opening will be on Friday (the 24th of September) from 5 to 8
PM, and we will need lots of help shlepping pumpkins to the tent and setting
up.
Saturday is the sale and we will need approximately one jillion people.
And Sunday will be the rain date, but this year there will be no rain
because it not only rained last year, but the one day this year when I
scheduled the Glass Lab BBQ. So it won't rain. Period.
SO, please let me know if you might be around and willing to volunteer again
this year. New volunteers always welcome!
Now you can go back to enjoying your summers, and I hope they are going well
for all.
Yours,
Peter
