A note from Peter Houk, Glass lab Director:

Hello All,
Two things:
First, a reminder that the seventh MIT Great Glass Pumpkin Patch will
be on saturday, October 6. This year the hours of the sale will be
changed from 10 AM-5 PM to 10 AM -3 PM. We will still have the same
opening reception on friday from 5-8 PM. Please save the date! Also,
this would be a good time to let me know if you will be able to
volunteer to help out with the Patch. We will need volunteers on
friday from 8:00 AM (transporting pumpkins to Kresge Oval), into the
afternoon (unwrapping pumpkins, pricing), and into the evening (crowd
control at the opening). On saturday, of course, we will need the most
volunteers to help with setup, the actual sale, and cleanup. If we
have serious rain on saturday, I will need to know who might be free
to help on sunday, the rain date. I will follow this up with another
e-mail in a few weeks, but I would love to get a jump on scheduling
key positions ahead of time, so if you know you want to volunteer this
year, please let me know. Thanks!

Second, we have just confirmed that our tenth Page Hazlegrove Lecture
in Glass Art will be given by Seattle-based glass artist Dante
Marioni. We are very excited! The Lecture will be on thursday, October
11 at 7:00 PM. There is a possibility that Dante will spend a day or
two blowing in the Glass Lab, but this is unclear at this point. I
will send out an e-mail with more details as things firm up.

Wishing you a happy rest of the summer,
Peter
