next year, have a look at IGDA's scholarships (link below). Another way in
is to volunteer as a conference associate (CA), which is a lot of work but a
great way to meet lots of VIPs and network:

The 2011 GDC Scholarship is now open!  We’re looking for the best, brightest
and most committed to a future of advancement in the game industry.  This
year we’re placing extra emphasis on volunteerism and personal growth.  Now
is the chance for your students to recieve an All Access Pass to GDC
(February 28th - March 4th) and a local studio tour.  They may apply today
