The MIT Center for Integrated Photonic Systems (CIPS) and OSA present
an exciting new meeting on the rapidly expanding roles of optics and
photonics in energy generation and conservation. A major objective of
the meeting is to provide an interactive forum to generate discussion
among researchers and practitioners across the energy value chain.
Three key energy topics will be covered–solar, solid state lighting,
and energy-source development and efficiency. The meeting will also
include a focus on optical systems and design. The meeting will
showcase the development and deployment of these energy technologies
including barriers and opportunities to accelerate the impact of
optics and photonics in this growing field. The MIT Energy Initiative,
a major campus-wide program, is a co-sponsor of the meeting.

Attend Optics and Photonics for Advanced Energy Technology for the
latest optics and photonics research in alternative energy, including:

Progressive Technical Program – Top researchers and technologists
present 25 invited presentations and 33 technical presentations
(including 2 poster sessions).

Stimulating Plenary Sessions – John M. Deutch, Institute Professor,
MIT, USA and former US Undersecretary of Energy, and Lawrence L.
Kazmerski, Executive Director, Science and Technology Partnerships,
Natl. Renewable Energy Lab, USA.

Special Networking Dinner – Featuring Keynote Speaker Jeff Adams,
Goldman Sachs, on the financial sector view of alternative energy.
