MIT Sloan Net Impact & the Sustainability at Sloan Speaker Series bring you:

An interactive presentation on Total Corporate Responsibility, with
Frank Dixon, former Managing Director of Research at
<http://www.innovestgroup.com/>Innovest Strategic Value Advisors

When: Thursday 12/7/06, 12-1PM
Where: E51-335
Lunch will be provided.

Many companies, including Wal-Mart, are working aggressively to lower
their environmental and social impacts and become sustainable. Yet no
firm is close to being sustainable, largely because
reductionistically-derived economic and political systems essentially
compel all firms to operate unsustainably and irresponsibly. Systemic
issues are the main driver of nearly all environmental and social
problems. However, they receive little attention, in part because
they are incredibly complex and hugely difficult to address. System
change is needed to enhance society today and ensure that future
generations are able to survive and prosper.

Frank Dixon will discuss a new sustainability approach, called Total
Corporate Responsibility (TCR), that combines traditional corporate
responsibility with system change efforts. As an advisor to Wal-Mart
and other firms, he will describe how TCR is being used to drive
system changes while enhancing financial and competitive performance.

Mr. Dixon will also discuss specific economic, political and social
system flaws that drive unsustainability. Finally, he will suggest
how business and society might develop the wisdom and systems
perspective needed to effectively address these issues.

Feedback and dialogue are welcomed and encouraged.

About Frank Dixon:

Frank Dixon is an author and consultant specializing in
sustainability, system change and enhancing financial performance
through increased corporate responsibility. For six years, he was
the Managing Director of Research for Innovest Strategic Value
Advisors, the largest corporate sustainability research firm in the
world. At Innovest, he oversaw the sustainability analysis of more
than 2,000 firms. Based on his observation that systemic issues
compel all firms to act unsustainably, he developed a new
sustainability approach focused on system change, called Total
Corporate Responsibility. Before Innovest, he worked in the energy
and finance areas. He is currently advising Wal-Mart and other firms
on sustainability. He has an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
