MIT EDITORS' CLUB

*Meeting Notes from March 19, 2015*

*Pi Day*

Stephanie Leishman, the social media guru of Communication Production Services, reports that Pi Day went really well. In fact, she was so involved in publicizing the event through a variety of social media that she can now recite more than 10 digits of the famous number.

Stephanie and fellow CPS staffer Emer Garland had fun this year by creating a giant "pi" then asking a variety of people--including President Reif--to pose with it. Check out their photo album<https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.862640980446201.1073741844.126533127390327&type=3> on Facebook for some of the resulting pics.

*MIT & Innovation*

The next issue of MIT Spectrvm <http://spectrum.mit.edu/category/issue/2014-fall/> will focus on innovation at MIT. The issue, which will go up online next week, features profiles of faculty and students from around the Institute, so it will have lots of fodder for your social media posts.

*Interesting Reads*

Two of us at this meeting mentioned interesting reads related to journalism.

Jessica Jones of UPOP (go to the acronym dictionary<https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/ACRONYMS/Acronyms+Home> if you're not familiar with what UPOP stands for) told us about a story on lifehacker<http://lifehacker.com/im-ira-glass-host-of-this-american-life-and-this-is-h-1609562031> called "I'm Ira Glass, Host of This American Life, and This Is How I Work."

I personally gave a shout-out to our colleague Emily Hiestand, SHASS communications director, for a lovely set of interviews <http://shass.mit.edu/news/news-2015-elevating-discourse-knight-science-journalism-fellows-mit> she did with the current crop of Knight Science Journalism Fellows.
