MIT EDITORS' CLUB

*Meeting Notes from November 18, 2014*

*Best of MIT: Social Media Case Studies*

Communication Production Services (CPS) will host its final presentation of the year on December 3, and it's a dandy. Best of MIT: Social Media Case Studies will be the equivalent of social media speed learning, according to CPS. Come listen to lightning presentations by six colleagues from around the Institute on effective ways they've used social media. There will be plenty of time for questions.

Please note that you'll need to register for this one at the following link<http://commtoolkit.mit.edu/best-of-mit-social-media-case-studies>. It's actually already full, but it's still well worth registering for because 1) CPS keeps a waiting list and will contact you if there are openings, and 2) CPS tracks the interest in each presentation with an eye toward potentially repeating those that are especially popular.

*Confab Higher Ed Conference*

Scott Murray of the MIT Global Education Office attended the Confab Higher Ed Conference<http://confabevents.com/events/higher-ed-2014> on content strategy earlier this month and highly recommended it, as did another person at this meeting who has gone in the past. Of particular note, Scott told us about a book by Kristina Halvorson called Content Strategy for the Web that he says is a really good resource.

*Communicating Climate Change*

I read a great Q&A recently with a top climate scientist about the importance of communicating his research to the public. I thought many of the people in this group might also be interested in the piece, which is actually part of a series, so here's the link:

*Calling All Designers*

Those of you working in graphic design or layout production might be interested in joining the Design Discussion Group through CPS. For more information, contact Bara Blender at bblender at MIT.EDU<mailto:bblender at MIT.EDU>

*Aerial Pics/Video*

CPS recently used a drone (a DJI S1000 Flying Wings octocopter) to capture aerial photographs and video of the MIT campus. The results are available free to members of the MIT community. To see the photos, go to https://www.flickr.com/photos/cpsphotolibrary/sets. The video should be available within the next month.

*Next Meeting*

Wednesday, Dec. 10
E19-319 (MIT Energy Initiative)

All the best,

Elizabeth
