Job Description

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, Civil and Environmental Engineering-Concrete Sustainability Hub’s (CSHub) (part-time, 50%), to provide an overarching vision and communications strategy/plan that represents CSHub’s goals, activities, and accomplishments.  Principle duties include developing a targeted, long-range outreach and communication plan to consistently and effectively promote visibility and awareness of CSHub to internal and external audiences; monitoring and managing the CSHub website and social media outlets; coordinating the production of outreach materials, including brochures, event invitations, signage, and other promotional materials; acting as the main point of contact for content, design, layout, structure, distribution, editing, and overall look and feel; working with CSHub leadership to coordinate the release of a monthly newsletter and developing current, creative, interesting, and informative stories on researchers and their results; authoring and distributing regular press releases; coordinating the production of up to six semitechnical reports per year on CSHub research, working with researchers to develop easy-to-understand summaries of research results; coordinating with partners to ensure accurate and timely outreach strategies; and working on, coordinating activities of, and developing promotional material for events.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; a minimum of five years’ experience in publication or communications field; knowledge of and experience with web content management and other electronic media; excellent writing, editing, interviewing, and research skills; demonstrated expertise using a range of styles to write feature stories, online content, social media, and broadcast messages; ability to translate complex information into common language, function effectively in a complex organizational structure, and work in teams; demonstrated leadership skills; and experience with Microsoft Office, Drupal, social media platforms, and the Adobe Creative Suite.  Academic and MIT experience preferred.  Job #10424-N

Schedule to be determined.

There will be occasional work outside the normal schedule to cover events and attend meetings.
