Here's a Wikipedia article about the QS ranking including critiques of its validity. Originally it was done in partnership with the Times Higher Education until they split up in 2010.

It's funny, though I find a number of emails and tweets about this, and very few mention whose ranking it is.
It bothers the journalist in me.

I guess this ranking is from "topuniversities.com/QS World"; I'm not really familair with them (how fly-by-night are they, really?), but they're certainly not the same as US News & World Report.

I guess it's nice to celebrate being #1, but sometimes it's hard to take this stuff seriously...
