Our AeroAstro calendar is embedded in our Drupal site. It is not linked to the MIT events calendar. The interface is very simple and includes radio buttons that offer AeroAstro members who submit an event to have it automatically embedded in an email notification that goes out to the entire department via the "aaevents at Mit.edu" email list - or they may choose just to post on the calendar. May is a good example http://aeroastro.mit.edu/news-events/calendar/month/2012-05 - there's nothing there for July as there's nothing going on right now!
Best,
Bill
