[Editors] your help for a google logo for MIT's 150th birthday, April 10

How about a cartoon showing the Google logo standing on top of the MIT dome, as if placed there by a hacker.
You could try staging the real thing and photographing it, but a cartoon version is probably more visually effective for the Google home page. If Google goes for it, you could then stage the real thing on the day - it would probably get lots of attention!

Jennifer and Andrew that's fabulous - you can't ask for more than that. Clarise Snyder had the good idea that if it is too late to do the 10th, they could perhaps do the 30th for the Open House.
Thank you for running with this - MIT Editors Group is a force to be reckoned with!

Hello friends,
I just spoke with our relationship manager in University relations, who was *very* enthusiastic about the idea, "Oh, that's a really nice idea. How cute. I really like that."
He also mentioned that Sunday was a slow news day, and that the request couldn't be made for a better day. He made no promises that this would actually materialize, but again, he said that he liked the idea and promised to advance our request as quickly as possible.
If I hear anything from him, I'll send a note to the list.
Best,

Friend got back to me and says: "I submitted a request and emailed the guy who makes them (I don't know him though, so I don't carry particular sway) -- hopefully it'll go through!"
Hope that helps a wee bit!

Hello my fellow editors,
I had an idea that for MIT's 150th birthday on Sunday, google should have an MIT-themed logo for its home page with a link to the 150th website. I sent a request to the designated email address but it felt a bit like sending into a black hole.
I'd like to ask your help: if you agree and are so inclined, please email proposals at google.com<mailto:proposals at google.com> the suggestion of doing this. Below is my forwarded email if you'd even just want to cut and paste.
I figured my email could be overlooked, but a group of like-minded emails all from @mit.edu<http://mit.edu/> might get noticed.
I checked in with the 150th folks and have their blessing on trying to do this. It would be fabulous (and great PR).
Happy convocation!
Melanie
PS. If you'd like to see some special logos (or "doodles") they've done in the past, go to http://www.google.com/logos/

Hello,
Sunday, April 10, 2011 is the 150th birthday for MIT - it seemed logical for there to be a google logo for it!
It could be as easy and the MIT dome in one of the "o"s and a link to the 150th birthday page: http://mit150.mit.edu/ (just an idea)
Please feel free to contact me for more information or anything.
Thanks,
Melanie
