COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, MIT Leaders for Global Operations Program (LGO) (part-time, 50%), to lead an effort to increase external communications, manage the dissemination of public information, and coordinate LGO's outreach. Will function as a writer/editor and public information officer promoting the program's educational and newsworthy activities; and develop and implement plans for communications efforts, monitor progress toward goals set in conjunction with the program's faculty codirectors and director, and remain current on the newest ways to get the word out about LGO's unique educational program and industry partnership. A key responsibility will involve writing articles and creating other content (e.g., blog postings, podcasts, videos) about the program for its website and social media presences, two sponsoring schools and other constituents, and the public. Will also be responsible for media outreach and related planning for a major LGO-hosted event in 2012, the production and updating of various annual publications, and other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., English, journalism; a minimum of two years' experience in a communications/public relations role with some responsibility for media relations; experience producing and managing social media content; excellent writing, copyediting, proofreading, and project management skills; strong interpersonal skills; thorough understanding of the tools of modern publishing and website management; demonstrated ability to cultivate successful working relationships with people in various roles across the broader organization; and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and work both independently and with a diverse group to collaboratively plan and implement a successful communications strategy. Advanced degree and familiarity with MIT or comparable higher education institution preferred. MIT-00007646-P
