Hi Robyn – IS&T training is exploring the possibility of contracting with Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com> for online training. I’d like to open this evaluation up to the community, and I was wondering if you could forward my invitation below on to the Editor’s email list.

Thanks – I look forward to hearing from you!

Mark

Good afternoon,

The IS&T Training Team is reviewing its suite of web-based training resources. As you may be aware, we presently offer Element K’s on-line learning to the MIT Community. While Element K is content rich and offers many learning management tools, many people find the user experience to be poor and usage is down. We are now investigating alternate web-based learning opportunities that provide wide topic coverage and engaging curriculum. One solution continues to rise to the top: www.Lynda.com<http://www.lynda.com/>

Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com> offers a rich selection of online training videos that address a broad selection of software tools at introductory, advanced, and technical support levels. The videos feature engaging industry experts who explain concepts with easy-to-follow how-to demonstrations. Each ‘course’ is segmented into short video clips – this allows learners to really hone in on the knowledge they wish to acquire. Many schools presently offer Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com> to their community as part of their online offerings, most notably Stanford and Indiana University.

Would you like to take Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com> for a test drive? You could gain some valuable training and you could help us with your feedback. We’ve received a number of 30-day trial licenses, good from June 8 – July 8, 2010. If you are interested in trying Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com>, please contact me, and I will create a trial account for you. You will then receive an email with instructions on how to go into Lynda.com<http://Lynda.com> to register and create your own login name and password.

Thanks for your time and help, and I look forward to hearing from you,

Mark Wiklund
