[Editors] MIT home to the world's most popular university web site

A few of you have kindly sent congratulations, but kudos should go to everyone on this listserv and the hundreds of others out there who create, edit and publish the content that has made the MIT site number one in its class. Our understanding in the News Office — and we’re about 98 percent sure of this — is that this is a ranking of the site as a whole, not just the home page. In other words, it includes ALL the subpages (OCW, admissions, news, physics, engineering, sloan, etc.) within the mit.edu domain.

In order to better understand the methodology, I’ve reached out the organization that compiled the rankings. I’m happy to share the response with folks off-list. Just ping me, and I’ll let you know.
