Dear editors,

A belated but heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions  
about MIT-Harvard collaborations to put before a donor who might be  
interested in funding them.  I received well over 30 replies, on and  
off the list, and am amazed by your collective knowledge of the  
Institute!

This particularly donor is interested in making a gift that will take  
effect on his death several decades from now, so many of the shorter- 
term projects suggested would not be appropriate.  Donors with a dual  
interest in MIT and Harvard, or couples consisting of a graduate from  
each school, approach our office on a regular basis, however, so I  
will be keeping all the suggestions on file for future reference.
