Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the opening and inaugural exhibit  
of the MIT Libraries' Maihaugen Gallery this Friday, April 18, 2008,  
1-3pm...

Maihaugen Gallery Opening Celebration
Institute Archives (14N-118)

The opening of the new Maihaugen Gallery offers a unique opportunity  
to view some of the rare and one-of-a-kind items given to the  
Libraries.  The first exhibit, A Celebration of Gifts, features items  
from the collection of the Institute’s founder, William Barton  
Rogers; original notebooks from Harold “Doc” Edgerton; rare books  
including a first edition of Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass; balloon  
prints from the Vail Collection and many other items. The gallery is  
located adjacent to the Institute Archives (14N-118). The celebration  
will begin at 1pm with remarks by Ann Wolpert, director of the  
Libraries.  Refreshments will be served.


I hope you will be able to join us to celebrate this special
