Hi all,

The MIT Alumni Association has officially changed the way we abbreviate
alumni degrees and I want to alert the communications community about the
change. Our new guideline drops the course number. We now list degree
abbreviations and years in editorial materials. This change is intended to
make the information clear and to align us with contemporary usage in
Technology Review and peer institutions.

Our goal is to make it easy to identify alumni in MIT communications - and
we, of course, hope you will join this effort.

So, here's the new MITAA abbreviation guideline:

Undergraduate: Walter Frey '56

Graduate: Martin Tang SM '72

Undergrad & grad: Philip Greenspun '82, SM '93, PhD '99

Feel free to email me with any questions!

Cheers,

Nancy
