Hi Everybody,
Since many of you are new to MIT Editors' Club, I thought I'd send out
my annual note describing in general how the News Office works, how you can
help us, and why that's worthwhile.
In a word (well, a few words): please feel free to send me story
ideas! I am personally interested in science and engineering news,
but send me anything...I can then route them to the News Office
writer covering that general area.
Here's what's in it for you:
--For those of you who write newsletters, you can reprint any Tech Talk
stories you find interesting. Plus, often those stories include cool
photographs, which are available through the News Office.
--Almost all Tech Talk stories are also sent as press releases to reporters
who we think might find them interesting. That can result in lots of
outside publicity, which we try to track for you.
A plug for sci/eng news:
For science and engineering news, it's most helpful if you can tell
me IN ADVANCE about papers accepted for publication, key talks, or
other newsworthy events. That gives me time to write a story that
will coincide with the date of the talk or publication (the infamous
news hook). Of course, always feel free to call about anything that's
just plain cool.
Thanks! You are our eyes and ears.
Elizabeth
