Hello, Editors,

The LFEE is presenting the inaugural Environmental Fellows
Invitational Lecture, and we'd like your help in publicizing it.

The speaker is James Gustave Speth, Dean, Yale School of Forestry and
Environmental Studies, and author, Red Sky at Morning: America and
the Crisis of the Global Environment (2004). Dean Speth was the
founder of the World Resources Institute, co-founder of the Natural
Resources Defense Council, and an adviser to Presidents Carter and
Clinton.

The title of his lecture is:

Some Say By Fire: Climate Change and the American Response

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, April 6, at 3:00 PM in the
Wong Auditorium.

If possible, please list the lecture on your website, with the
following link:

Dean Speth's abstract of his lecture is as follows:

MIT's Jule Charney chaired the first National Academy of Sciences
panel on the climate change threat in 1979. Now, a quarter century
has passed by and the United States has yet to face up to this most
serious of all environmental challenges, despite the fact that most
of the research that has led the rest of the advanced nations to act
has been done here. How could this happen? And now that it has, and
now that we have elected leaders in the Presidency and the Congress
who prefer to ignore the threat, what are we to do?
