[Editors] Story behind MIT building numbers?

I had heard something similar to Lee's story, which I believe is recorded 
in the book, "MIT in Perspective," by former MIT News chief, Francis Wylie. 
Our copy has disappeared, otherwise I would volunteer to look it up for 
you.  But I do think he reports that same correlation between the numbers 
and courses, which changed as the Institute grew.
