I am writing to announce the start of the nomination process for the 2008
Steven Wade Neiterman Award. Since its inception in 2001, it has become an
important event for entire IT community at MIT.
As many of you know, this award is presented annually to one or two
individuals working at MIT in an information technology capacity. Any
member of the MIT community may nominate any IT colleague. Nominees can be
anyone with a part-to-full time MIT appointment who devotes at least 50%
effort to providing IT services (IS&T directors and members of the
nominating committee excluded).
Steven Wade Neiterman worked at MIT for 11 years and was a beloved member of
the IT community on campus. His work and life exemplified many excellent
qualities and it is these that we look for in making this award. Nominees
for the award should consistently demonstrate the following in their
professional and personal life:
. collaborative problem solving
. coaching colleagues
. team building
. creating community
. sharing knowledge
. getting things done, and
. commitment to MIT
Nominations may be completed on-line at http://web.mit.edu/ist/wadeaward/.
There you will also find more information about Steve and the Award that
carries his name. Alternatively, nominations may be submitted on paper and
sent through campus mail (c/o David Segaloff, Office of the Vice President
for Information Services and Technology, Room 10-219, MIT). Nominations
must be received no later than midnight October 17th.
In addition to being recognized at an Award Ceremony scheduled to take place
November 21st, the recipient or recipients of the Neiterman Award will be
presented with $1,000.00 each.
Inquiries may be directed to neiterman-award at mit.edu.
