At this time, IS&T recommends that only early adopters -- that is, those who are able to support themselves or their users -- download and install VMware desktop products while we evaluate and test the software and produce documentation. Phased support plan: ------------------------------- Since the release project will encompass VMware desktop products on all three supported operating systems, support for VMware will be conducted using a phased approach. Support available after Phase I will include the installation of VMware Workstation and Fusion, installing the guest operating system and VMware Tools, and configuring the network. We will publish best practices and provide documentation for these four activities. Details regarding additional phases of the project will be determined as we progress through Phase I. We will share those timelines as they are established. Timeline ------------------- IS&T anticipates to announce support for Phase 1 as outlined during Q1 FY09. For more information on the VMware release project, please see the project wiki at: https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/display/VMware/ If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to participate in the release of VMware Workstation or Fusion, please contact the release team at vmware-release at mit.edu.
