Hello,

IS&T is pleased to announce full support for version 5.4.1 of the Tivoli
Storage Manager backup-archive client for Linux.

This release incorporates the latest available patches to the 5.4
product line (as of June 2007), and will bring the Linux version to
parity with the Windows and Macintosh 5.4 releases which have been available
for some time. It is supported on both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5
(a release effort for the latter is currently underway).

Current TSM users are advised to update to 5.4.1 as soon as they are able to.

New with version 5.4.1:

        many bug fixes.

include.fs option for controlling backup process in incremental backup.

new options for controlling the use of memory in incremental backup.

new options for preventing execution of unintended or malicious
        commands during TSM operations.

Known Issues:

The "dsm" GUI command is no longer available in 5.4. It has been
replaced by the "dsmj" command which has comparable functionality.

The default Red Hat Enterprise Java runtime environment does not
work well with dsmj, so you will also need to install Sun's
1.4.2 JRE which we also make available along with the TSM binaries.

How to obtain TSM backup 5.4.1 for Linux:

Details of system requirements, downloading via MIT Software Distribution
