Good afternoon,

If you've visited Information Services and Technology (IS&T) in
building N42 recently, you have noticed a flurry of construction
underway, and those of you accustomed to finding services in W20 have
begun to see that space increasingly vacant. This message is intended
to help bring you up to date on these changes to our space and on our
efforts to create for you a combined service center.

Beginning Tuesday, August 17, you will find all services previously
available in the basement of W20 now available in building N42 located
at 211 Massachusetts Avenue.

As part of a strategic effort to provide a common 'front-door' to IS&T
services and to offer a set of integrated services to the community,
IS&T is establishing a combined service center in the front area of
Building N42.

In this combined service center, clients will be able to:
- Meet with IS&T consultants for hardware and software repair; these
are the functions performed by PC Repair and Computing Help Walk-in
Services
- Look at demonstration models and discuss new computer purchases with
consultants; the functions performed by the MIT Computer Connection.
- Take care of computing account activities such as password re-sets.
- Pick up requested copies of volume licensed software.
- Receive directions and contacts for other IS&T activities, meetings,
and consultations.

Contact information for the groups who are relocating, including email
remain the same, and directory and service information on our web pages
are in the process of being updated.

Other IS&T activities are also being relocated from W20; for example,
the Online Consultants for Athena help and Athena Cluster Services are
also moving to N42.

Finally, I wish to ask for your patience as we settle into this new
arrangement; construction will not be fully complete before the
beginning of fall term, and we are working to insure that we present a
coherent set of combined services that each staff member can deliver to
our clients. As with any change, there will be some surprises, and we
appreciate your understanding and welcome your feedback.

If you wish to know more, or have questions, please don't hesitate to
call me.

We look forward to this new approach for delivering these IS&T services.
