Do you have any plots comparing sea ice drift you can share? I?m currently looking for a time series dataset of Arctic Ocean surface currents (preferably, spanning multiple years). As I was analyzing Arctic near-surface kinematics in ECCOv4r4, I observed that the sea ice drift appears to be faster than in some observational records. To better understand this bias, I?m now comparing ECCOv4r4?s ocean surface velocity with observational datasets. My hypothesis is that if the modeled ocean currents are also stronger than observed, it could suggest that wind momentum flux is overly influential in the model. On the other hand, if ECCOv4r4 currents are weaker than observations, it may indicate the presence of compensating processes or parameters that are moderating the wind drag. I?ve already calculated the near-surface kinetic energy and compared it with in situ observations from von Appen et al. (2024). Initial results suggest that ECCOv4r4 underestimates the ocean kinetic energy. [cid:image001.png at 01DBD631.747CA930] I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or insights you might have regarding suitable datasets or relevant approaches for this comparison. I?m also cc?ing Dr. Ian here in case he has any suggestions to add. I have a quick question. I wanted to look for which data was assimilated in ECCOv4r4 to produce the ocean velocity (UVEL, VVEL, WVEL). For example, the list of Argo, CTD, XBT, ITP, etc. Can anyone please tell me? It will be a great help. Thank you so much! Error! Filename not specified.
