Ashfaq,

Hong is correct. Also, if you are using ecco v4r4 fields on the llc90 grid, the model geometry parameters are in this dataset:
https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/ECCO_L4_GEOMETRY_LLC0090GRID_V4R4
grid cell area is the field ‘rA’

If you are using ecco v4r4 fields on the 0.5-degree lat-lon grid, the model geometry parameters are in this dataset:
https://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/ECCO_L4_GEOMETRY_05DEG_V4R4
grid cell area is the field ‘area’

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [ecco-support] How to calculate Arctic Sea Ice Area in ECCOv4?
Hi, ECCO team,

I hope you guys are having a wonderful time.

I am writing this email to solve a problem that I am facing as I am trying to plot the Arctic sea ice area in km^2. We know that the area = sea ice conc. * grid size. However, the grid size in the Arctic cap is variable.

Can anyone please tell me how can I calculate the Arctic tile's sea ice area, considering the grid variability in mind?
