Guancheng,
The inaccuracy of the salinity budget calculation is probably because you are using monthly averages instead of monthly snapshots. Since Release 3 provides monthly snapshots, let us first figure out why you cannot access Release 3’s<ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/> web site. Can you provide a screenshot of your web brower after you entered ftp://ecco.jpl.nasa.gov/Version4/Release3/?
Thanks,
Ou Wang

Subject: [ecco-support] Access to the ECCO2R3
Dear Sir/Madam,
Firstly, thank you for your reply. I used the salinity data from ECCOV4-R2 to calculate the salinity budget in a single grid by using your budget calculating introductions. For the lack of monthly snapshots, i had to use the monthly nctiles instead of it. The result is that the difference between LHS terms and RHS terms is larger than the error results provided in your introduction and even the same as the magnitude of the LHS terms. So i don't know how to evaluate these errors.
I can download the data of ECCOV4-R2, but not access ECCO V4 Release 3’s web site. It seems that i can not open the page data file without permission. It will be grateful if you could help me get your ECCO2-R3 data.
Thank you for your reading!
Best regards,
Guancheng
