[Dspace-general] Controlled vocabularies for the humanities?

Folks,
Is anyone using a controlled vocabulary for the humanities and/or social
sciences (or, likelier, any individual field) with an IR? Do such things
exist, besides the Library of Congress subject index? I know some journals
will have their own controlled vocabularies for topics/keywords, but I'm
interested in this specifically in the context of an IR.
If my terminology is wacky, please forgive me and point me in the right
direction. Just starting out with this stuff.
Thanks,
-Vika
