Repository Fringe 2008

Those interested in the likely future development of repositories will be
interested in the streamed video presentations of the event which are now
available at:

 www.repositoryfringe.org.

Many of the Powerpoint presentations are also available from the site.

Repository Fringe 2008 was held on the 31st of August and the 1st of
September, funded by JISC and hosted by the University of Edinburgh, and saw
researchers exchange ideas on the best way this data might be collected,
stored and made accessible.

The keynote presentation was given by Dorothea Salo (Wisconsin) and
focussed on the failure of the 'build it and they will
come' approach to institutional repository provision ('Le IR, c'est mort.
Vive le IR!') . Other presentations took up the theme of radically
rethinking the repository idea.
