[Dspace-general] GSoC Idea: Packaging DSpace

Hi,

I would like to apply for the "Packaging DSpace" GSoC idea. I have a doubt.

Are the desired packages planned to be official parts of the distributions?
If that's the case, I think that a Java-based installer would work for Windows 
(and, eventually MacOS X).

(As far as I know, the only way to make a package "official" for a distro is 
to follow its packaging policy.)
