Dormcon Elections:
Interested in leading efforts to introduce prefrosh to the MIT community?
Do you want to join a fun and chill student government?
Then you should run for a 🦈Dormcon🦈 exec position at the next Dormcon GBM
this Thursday, Dec 1st from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at New Vassar.
The open positions at this election are CPW/REX chair and i3 chair. These
positions are typically filled by frosh and sophomores - so everyone is
welcome to run! We have descriptions of the position’s responsibilities
below. In addition to these specific responsibilities, you will be a member
of DormCon exec and be able to provide input on student life issues and
policies in general.

The DormCon CPW/REX chairs oversee all of the dormitories' events during
two of the best times of the year. They work closely with Admissions in
creating the CPW booklet and communicate with dorm CPW chairs to ensure a
great CPW. They are also responsible for coordinating REX (Residential
EXploration) and publishing the REX booklet by coordinating with all of the
dorms. This is a great opportunity to have a say in the way that MIT
welcomes its freshmen.
We elect 2 each year; term runs until the end of next fall semester.
Contact dormcon-rex-chairs at mit.edu (current position holder) with any
questions!

The DormCon i3 chair is the student point person for making the i3 project
happen! The i3 (Interactive Introduction to the Institute) serves to
introduce the incoming freshmen to the various wonderful dorms and dorm
cultures at MIT through videos showcasing dorms and their culture. The i3
Chair helps coordinate the process of creating and distributing the i3s by
coordinating between administrators and the dorm i3 chairs.
We elect 1 each year; term runs until the end of next fall semester.
Contact dormcon-i3-rac-chair at mit.edu (current position holder) with any
questions!
Come to the DormCon GBM this Thursday if you want to run for either
position!
If you are unable to make it to the meeting then you can send a proxy who
will represent you as a candidate. The name of the proxy should be sent to
us in advance of the meeting (you can reply to this email). Your proxy
should be able to speak to your platform and provide brief answers to the
following questions:
-
What will be your workload over the spring semester and the summer?
-
Can you make weekly Thursday night meetings?

Food Security Forum
DormCon will be hosting our second dining forum of the semester! This time,
our topic will be food security. Food security is your ability to access
healthy, affordable, and convenient food on a day-to-day basis. This forum
will serve as an open discussion about successful programs and initiatives
that you have seen so far, and as a way for you to suggest ways that we can
improve food security on campus!
Please fill out this form <http://tinyurl.com/food-forum> (
tinyurl.com/food-forum) if you have feedback for DormCon and/or are
thinking about coming so that we can order enough food for free dinner!
Time: Tuesday, December 6, 7-8 PM
Location: McCormick Country Kitchen (RSVP for guest list access!)
Contact: dormcon-dining-chairs at mit.edu with any questions!
------------------------------
House Life Survey
You should have received an email from Suzy Nelson and Dormcon (
dslassessmentresearch at mit.edu) with the title “House Life Survey: Help us
make residence life at MIT even better!” Please fill out the survey -- it
is a really good way to give feedback to your GRA, Area Director and Head
of House. The dorms which get the most participation in the survey will get
a higher study break fund!

Parting Reminders
We want to help make sure that your dorm experience is the best that it can
be. As always, you can reach out to us at dormcon-exec at mit.edu or on Piazza
<http://piazza.com/mit/fall2021/dormcon> if you have any questions,
concerns, or comments. You can also attend our General Body Meetings on
