Heyyo beloved dorm resident,
We hope you’ve been having a great first few weeks of the semester! We want
to make sure you know all about 🦈 DormCon 🦈 and the resources we provide
as your friendly neighborhood student government.
WHAT IS 🦈 DORMCON 🦈?
Dormitory Council, lovingly called 🦈 DormCon 🦈, is a student government
that presides over the 11 undergraduate residence halls at MIT. We deal
with issues pertaining to student life in dorms and we strive to elevate
student concerns or ideas to administration. You’ve probably seen us in
action through CPW & REX, the Murals Pilot, funding events like Bad Ideas
and DTYD, and the Pods Program during COVID!
And importantly, DormCon is here to help you! We can assist with issues
including, but not limited to:
-
Questions about the housing process
-
Dining feedback
-
Event funding (e.g. campus-wide parties and formals, Next Haunt, Bad
Ideas Weekend)
-
Challenges getting your specific issues resolved with admin
-
Advocacy for broader policy changes which benefit your community
You’re getting this email through dorms@, a mailing list for all dorm
residents that only DormCon can use. We promise to keep this list
low-traffic and focused on important updates -- so please read our emails!
🦈 GET INVOLVED🦈 UNDERCLASSMEN REP ELECTIONS!
We’re looking for ‘25s and ‘26s excited about dorm life to run for
Underclassmen Representative, DormCon’s newest exec position! The
Underclassmen Rep will work on DormCon projects of their choice, like one
of:
-
Implementing the mural pilot in New House and Next House
-
Helping form a renovations support group to document history and
resources around dorm renovations/closure
-
Increasing DormCon’s social media presence
-
Helping organize a forum for people to give feedback on MIT’s Dining
plans
Come to the next GBM at Burton-Conner to learn more, or to the 9/29 GBM at
Maseeh to run!
