Hi dorm residents,
We hope you’ve been having a restful winter break.
You may have heard already that this January’s IAP will look very different
from what we were all expecting. If you haven’t already, please go read the
email sent out today about the plans for IAP in response to Omicron
<https://orgchart.mit.edu/node/13/letters_to_community/action-required-1227-make-informed-decision-about-iap-and-complete>.
That message contains lots of crucial information, so it’s really important
that you read it in its entirety.
Please carefully consider your personal situation and the risks of being on
campus before making your plans. Don’t just return because that was your
original plan; we want to encourage you to really take the time to think
about whether campus will be the best living environment for you, given
both the elevated risk of catching Covid and the increased restrictions. If
you decide not to return, there will be a process (details to come) for
retrieving any essential items you may have left in your dorm room. Whether
or not you decide to come, make sure to fill out the IAP Plans Registry
<https://mit.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5jLIdvSzEWUYQia> to indicate
your plans.
We understand that these are confusing times, with a bunch of new
information and last-minute changes. DormCon is here for you! If you have
any questions or concerns about the plans for IAP, let us know through our
Piazza <http://piazza.com/mit/fall2021/dormcon>. We’re speaking directly
with the administrators that make these decisions and helping to create
some of the policies, so we’ll be able to answer your questions or raise
your concerns to the right people.
With lots of love,
Emily Caragay
