[Dorms] REX/Orientation Early Returns Information

Hello Dorm Residents,

Below is the information you have all been waiting for about early returns 
for DormCon REX/Rush.  Please read the entire email.

An Overview Of DormCon REX Early Returns

The early return date for REX 2005 is Sunday, August 21st.  It is expected 
that if you sign up as an early return you will be here that day.  Dorm 
orientation events begin that Thursday, with the major dorm rush events 
happening Sunday August 28th and Monday August 29th and then continuing 
throughout the week.

In order to get an early return, you are committing to put a significant 
effort into the dorm contribution to orientation.  There will be certain 
events that you will be required to be at/help with.  If it is determined 
that you slacked off, you will be charged for you housing.

Who should apply for an early return?  If you are an undergraduate student 
living in a dorm next fall, you can apply to be an early return.  If you 
are here over the summer, you do not need an early return.  If you have an 
early return for another reason, such as sports, you do not need to ask for 
a Dormcon early return.


Timeline for Requesting an Early Return

By June 1st you must email your dorm REX/Rush chair telling him/her that 
you would like an early return.  If your REX Chair approves your request, 
your name will be sent to me, the DormCon REX Chair, and then forwarded on 
to the housing office.

Between June 1 and July 1 - If your REX Chair has approved you as an early 
return, you must go to the housing office's website and request an early 
return at http://web.mit.edu/housing/undergrad/er.html.  This will place 
your name on the housing office's early return list.

After July 1 - The list I receive with early returns will be compared with 
the housing office list.  If you name is on both lists, you get an early 
return.
