Hi everyone. ThoughtAndMemory.org is now Buy It Like You Mean It.
And there is so much good news...

OUR LAUNCH PARTY WAS FUN

After a concerted effort to fix bugs, improve our homepage and blog,
and change our organization's name (to "Buy It Like You Mean It") we
had a really fun launch party last week! Taza chocolate hosted us at
their Somerville factory and so many people helped make the night
special. Redbones and Sam Adams donated food and drinks and Taza
wrapped a special batch of chocolate bars for us to sell. Not only
did we celebrate our hard working volunteers but we raised over $500!

NOW WE'RE IN THE NEWS

We used the launch party as an excuse to tell local newspapers and
blogs about our service. I admit that I didn't expect to get much
coverage right away; but we spent a lot of effort crafting clear and
exciting news releases just to prime the pump for later announcements.
To my surprise I've been giving interviews ever since!

There will be an article about us in this Sunday's Boston Globe in the
City Weekly section. There may also be something in the Cambridge
Chronicle soon. And you can go to
http://www.goodcleantech.com/2008/06/buy_it_like_you_mean_it_1.php to
read what they're saying about us on the Good Clean Tech blog (go
ahead and add your own comments!) I'm working on a press page so that
you can find the other blogs that have also featured us in one way or
another.

DONORS RECEIVE FREE CHOCOLATE

While supplies last we'll be giving away commemorative Buy It Like You
Mean It launch party chocolate bars to anyone who donates at least $10
to our cause. Donations are tax deductible and really help us meet
our goals.

SHERRI ANNOUNCES A REVIEW CONTEST

Sherri Davidoff has now joined Lucy Mendel and I as a Buy It Like You
Mean It team blogger! Check out what she has to say at
http://www.bilumi.org/blog. Sherri has made two posts to date. She
has written about a conversation with a local business man about how
our service can support local companies. She has also announced a
contest to see who can win dinner for two at the Middle East upstairs
by reviewing the most chocolate companies/products in the month of
June. You can get started here: http://www.bilumi.org/Main/browse/ or
can get help at our research guide here:

SUMMER CHALLENGES

We've committed to some major projects for the summer. We'll be:

- organizing our open source code so that outsiders can begin contributing.
- adapting our system to allow it to find potential review topics for
users by searching known online resources.
- making text message access to product scores work throughout the
chocolate industry.
- creating a community discussion forum on our main site
- organizing people to submit a total of 200 reviews and 1000 ratings.
- contacting potential collaborators.
- applying for 5 grants and contacting another 20.
- working with teachers to improve our lesson plans.
- reworking our Research Guide so it is easier to use.
- printing and posting the next issue of our comic book.
- updating the rest of our promotional material to match our new brand.
- investigating other potential revenue sources.

Sounds like a lot, but with your help we're already off to a good start!

Woohoo!

-clay
