Subject: [Dev-flock] Almost 150 reviews now!

Several members of our outreach committee have been publishing reviews on
our site lately!

As such there are now almost 150 reviews.  Most of those have no ratings -
for legal reasons members of our Board of Directors are only allowed to
enter reviews that are quotes from other sources (not ratings).  And it's
not clear if the ones that I entered from Ethiscore.org will stick around
since their terms of use are very restrictive (I'm contacting them.)

But we're off to a good start!

Is that all there is to Bayesian rating?  I guess we originally thought that
there was a trick with an infinite loop as the equations end up referencing
themselves.  But I think we've grown comfortable with the idea that things
can be calculated based on their current state and not need to refer to
themselves.

I've attached an adaption of the Bayesian equations that should help us
figure out our evaluation order.  Please modify as needed.

you probably haven't noticed, but there's been a latent bug in sqlite
that Dan discovered. It is now fixed in the source tree, but hasn't
made its way into any binaries or likely your computer. this is mostly
an issue for mac users who are making use of mac's coming with sqlite3
already installed.

if you have questions or concerns let me know.

i believe fixing this is optional...the problem is correctness, so if
you're not concerned with queries (eg, you're working on UI layout),
you're prolly ok.

yeah. when my server reboots it doesn't automatically start xplanner.
this will get fixed. eit.
on the bright side: Chia is going to present the new look of the
webpage (intro/main page and navigation bar(s)) at our next
meeting--it will either already be live at the point will go live that
night. Yeah!!
let me know if you're encountering roadblocks to getting things done.
if you're having trouble finding tasks on xplanner please let me (or
someone) know.

Subject: [Dev-flock] Chocolate at the Cambridge Science Festival next week!

That's right, we're hosting a socially responsible chocolate research
workshop next Thursday, May 1st 5:00 - 8:00pm at the MIT Museum.

Invite your friends... bring a date... this will be fun!

We'll have fancy local chocolates to sample, lots of computers to play with,
and giant raven puppets to keep things surprising.  We'll also be using the
event as a stage to release Claudia's "How to research socially responsible
products on the internet".

We're also meeting at the MIT Student Art Association at 11am on Wednesday
the 31st to do some planning for the event.

Please let me know if you're available to help out at the event and/or to
meet up and plan. We need a couple people to wear raven costumes and a few
more to help newbies use our system.

this seems to be a path problem, since emulating correct environment
settings seems to make things work.

whoa. guess i'm missing something about how python imports work.

all I did was add from django.contrib.auth.models import * to make things work.
