Does nothing happen or do you get an error?

In the past I've editted santa2.json directly and then done
  ./manage.py loaddata db/fixtures/santa2.json

output:
Loading 'db/fixtures/santa2' fixtures...
Installing json fixture 'db/fixtures/santa2' from absolute path.
Installed 530 object(s) from 1 fixture(s)
