Dear Friends,

MIT CSSA will be holding an exciting Karaoke Contest on Jan. 23rd, next
Friday. Chinese students and scholars from MIT and other sister universities
are welcome to show their talents of singing on our stage.

The Karaoke Contest includes two rounds. In the first round, TEN qualifiers
will be selected from all contestants by judge's decisions. In the second
round, SIX prize-winners will be selected based on anonymous votes of
audience plus judge's decisions. Amazing prizes (Macy's and Target gift
cards) are prepared for these winners: $50 gift card for one 1st prize
winner, $30 gift card each for two 2nd prize winners, and $20 gift card each
for three 3rd prize winners. Furthermore, they are earnestly invited to give
a wonderful performance on a much larger stage of the 2009 Spring Festival
Gala (Jan. 30, Kresge Auditorium).

This will be an incredibly fun event, so REGISTER now as a contestant by
emailing to Lang Yang (langyang at mit.edu) or Wener Lv (lvwener at mit.edu)
because we have an upper limit of 20 contestants. Please let us know your
choice of two songs. We will try to find these songs for you in our Karaoke
machine (no guarantee). You are encouraged to find these songs yourself of
better quality and video, and you can send to us before the contest or bring
your own disc that day.

Deadline for registration: 11:30 AM, Jan. 22, Thursday
Schedule: January 23rd, 2009, Friday
          4:00-6:30 Rehearsal
          5:30-7:00 Dinner (please buy tickets for Chinese New Year
          Banquet/Game Stall/Karaoke Contest)
          7:00-9:00 1st Round of Karaoke Contest
          9:40-11:00 2nd Round of Karaoke Contest

Register Fee: only for non-MIT students $5 per contestant
