Message-ID: <20081218103009.tf1y5626tc2okwsk@webmail.mit.edu> Dear Friends: What is your plan for the winter? Stay in your cold lab alone and bury yourself with endless papers? Yep, the weather is depressing and there are not many fun events around. Even so, do you know many great people are waiting for you eagerly, right here on campus? We are the people who share similar interest with you and who believe you can achieve far more than solely reading papers. We are the MIT CSSA Sports Clubs! http://cssa.mit.edu/events_sportsclubs.php Not good at any sports? Me neither. The purpose of the MIT CSSA Sports Clubs is not to host competitions/tournaments only, but rather to encourage more people to come together, to excise together and to have fun together! Therefore, never feel shy to be a beginner. The senior team members will serve as coaches and teach the necessary skills to all the new-comers. Not sure which sports to start with? Currently, MIT CSSA has 7 Sports Clubs: Volleyball Club, Tennis Club, Soccer Club, Basketball Club, Badminton Club, Chess & Cards Club, and Table Tennis Club. New clubs can be set up as well. You can participate in as many clubs as you would like to. Remember, CSSA will allocate funding, which we hope there would be even more in the future, to support the regular activities and special events based on the number of members of each club. So, every person counts! Becoming a member of the clubs you love will gain $$$ for the club! What kind of activities the MIT CSSA Sports Clubs will host? Play, play and play. Each club will organize regular weekly gatherings to introduce you with more friends. Each club will host campus-wide competition when more people become skillful. We will form teams to represent MIT and Greater Boston Chinese community to compete with other universities and cities as well. For example, the Basketball Club has won cups for many years in the annual tournaments of Chinese North American Sports Association (CNASA). What will you gain by being a member of MIT CSSA Sports Clubs? More exercise and a healthy body. New friends whom you can have dinners/parties together with, and even some cute boy/girl you particularly like to be with (well, that is your business). And, most important, an unforgettable memory about MIT, which is not only about work hard, but also play harder. What are you still waiting for? Visit http://cssa.mit.edu/events_sportsclubs.php right now! We want to express our special thanks to all the coordinators of the Sports Clubs, who are kind volunteers willing to serve the whole MIT community and to provide exercise opportunities to all the MIT members and Greater Boston Chinese communities. Please do contact us if you have any suggestion, comments, or inputs. Your words will be highly appreciated and will get feedback from CSSA. Welcome to join the MIT CSSA Sports Clubs!
